The Area

There are many beautiful walks in and around Wells. To the West is Wells/Holkham beach which is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty with miles and miles of golden sand, open sky and ever-changing sea. To the East is Stiffkey with its winding creeks and salt marshes, natural habitat of many unusual birds and plants.

Or just relax, sit on the harbour front and watch the boats unload their daily catch.

Wells itself is a quaint old harbour town full of traditional flint cottages and granaries. It provides great shopping opportunities to purchase locally made items such as dressed crabs and lobster, lavender bread and cakes, handmade soaps and cheeses, as well as mad seaside gifte shoppes and great tea rooms.

The town has two beauty salons offering Reiki and therapeutic head and body massage, manicures, etc., all at very competitive prices.

Wells-Next-the-Sea also hosts regular maritime and poetry festivals and celebrates a carnival week in August.

It is possible to hire bikes, boats and canoes locally.
